Welcome to The WOW Show

The WOW Show is an online channel creating real-life encounters with the world of work to inspire young people about their futures.

We are proud to have been named Careers Provider of the Year by the Careers and Enterprise Company and the Gatsby Foundation at the annual Careers Excellence Awards.

Our special shows shine a spotlight on different industries and sectors and the career opportunities and pathways they offer young people. These range from live-streamed events as a shared learning experience to Assembly-tailored programme formats and FaceTime-like Q&As (CareersCast) where students can quiz employers directly. Each Show is supported with lesson plans authored by teachers for KS3, KS4 and KS5.

Our film-making and story-telling has also been recognised with a Gold Award at the creative industries’ London Film Awards.

The skills you didn’t even know you had!
The WOW Show releases new wellbeing resources

With the new school year about to start, The WOW Show and its partners VotesforSchools are launching an exciting new film and lessons to help young people build self-confidence and show them why employers will welcome them.

At a time when students are under all sorts of pressures following the COVID disruption this is a timely and positive reminder to them that if they can discover and develop their innate skills and talents their future prospects remain undiminished.

The film features a ‘cast’ of near-peer characters in everyday situations underlining messages about the skills that are inside us all – if only we recognise them: Resilience, Interpersonal skills, Leadership skills, Staying positive, Wellbeing and Self-belief.

To accompany the film, VotesforSchools have prepared three interactive classroom-ready lessons that promote discussion and prompt students to gain further appreciation of their own skills. These lesson plans and PowerPoint lesson slides are structured to reflect the CDI Framework objectives and can be used without any prior preparation.

It is supported by the City & Guilds Foundation and follows on the success of our previous animation highlighting employability skills which has had more than 75,000 ‘views’ on our YouTube channel and has been enthusiastically used in schools around the country.

With student wellbeing and confidence such a priority, this is available free to all schools and teachers and careers leads.
